Turkish club Fenerbahçe has moved to re-sign their former defender Youssef Akcicek, who currently plays for Al Hilal, during the current transfer window, as the club aims to strengthen its defense with a player familiar with the team's environment.

Turkish newspaper ‘Foto Mak’ reported that Fenerbahce's management has opened communication channels with Al Hilal officials to discuss the possibility of loaning the young defender, who is 20 years old.

Fenerbahçe's interest in Akcaycik comes amid the potential departures of Çaglar Söyüncü and Jayden Oosterwolde, alongside the club's desire to take advantage of foreign player regulations.

Akcicek is considered one of the names tipped to strengthen Fenerbahce's defense, especially since he has previously worn the club's jersey and began his first steps towards the first team through it.

The Turkish defender transferred to Al Hilal last season from Fenerbahçe, in a deal worth €22 million, making him the fourth most expensive sale in the Turkish club's history.

The current market value of Akichik is approximately €14 million, making him the highest-valued defender in Al Hilal's roster, according to the latest figures circulating.

Akcicek started his football journey in the youth sector of Galatasaray before transferring to Fenerbahçe's academy in 2019, where he later succeeded in reaching the first team.

Fenerbahçe and Al Hilal are still in communication, while both parties await the possibility of reaching a suitable transfer agreement for the player during the remaining days of the summer transfer window.
