Hamza Abdel Karim Emerges as a Striking Option for Flick at Barcelona
Hamza Abdel Karim has made a strong impression during Barcelona's pre-season preparations, scoring a goal against Al Ahly in the Joan Gamper Trophy. This performance enhances his prospects of being considered by coach Hans Flick for the central striker position as La Liga kicks off.
According to "Mundo Deportivo," the 18-year-old Egyptian forward started against Al Ahly and played for 73 minutes, during which he scored the opening goal for Barcelona, bringing his tally to four goals in three matches, making him one of the standout players for the team during pre-season.
Hamza's brilliance arrives at a time when Barcelona is contemplating a new move to bolster their attack, after Deco left the door open for a potential offensive signing. At the same time, the young striker continues to showcase his credentials on the pitch, amid questions about the possibility of granting him a chance in the central striker role against Elche on Sunday, despite not having officially participated with either the first team or the reserve team so far.
Hamza has received praise from within the Barcelona dressing room, with Eric Garcia stating after the Joan Gamper Cup: "I didn't know him and he surprised me. If he continues to work this way, he will become a very important striker in the future."
Flick had also praised him after scoring two goals against Birmingham, emphasizing that the striker must show up in the penalty area, which the Egyptian player did.
Hamza is distinguished by his goal-scoring instinct and ability to finish chances, move into spaces, and appear inside the penalty area. In addition, he possesses the capability to participate in play, retain possession with his back to goal, but his most notable strengths lie in his movements within the penalty area.
