Rodri Joins Barcelona Training Ahead of Al Ahly Clash
Spanish midfielder Rodri, Barcelona's new signing, participated in his first training session with the Catalan team this morning, Wednesday, under the guidance of coach Hans Flick, as preparations for the new season get underway.
According to "Mundo Deportivo," 30-year-old Rodri trained at the Camp Tito Vilanova after arriving in Barcelona on Monday and signing his contract with the club on Tuesday, before being officially presented until 2030.
Rodri confirmed during his presentation as a Barcelona player: "I am ready to play already," but he still needs to keep working during the preparation period, having started his season preparations late and joined Manchester City's training last Friday.
Barcelona is set to face Al Ahly this evening at Spotify Camp Nou in the Joan Gamper Trophy, and Rodri is not expected to participate in the match, except for a possible cameo in the final minutes.
Meanwhile, João Cancelo continues his training with Barcelona, but he is unlikely to participate against Al Ahly due to some bureaucratic procedures that are delaying the official announcement of his transfer to the club on a free transfer after leaving Al Hilal.
Pedri and Gavi continue to train with the group after missing the recent friendly match against Basel, which ended in a 5-2 victory for Barcelona. Flick will determine their availability for the match against Al Ahly after training, ahead of the team's La Liga opener against Elche next Sunday.
