Mariska: We want to win the title on Sunday, no new signings expected today

Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca appeared at a press conference to discuss the upcoming match against Arsenal on Sunday in the FA Community Shield final, which will take place at the Millennium Stadium.

The coach began his remarks on the transfer market: "Certainly, there are things we need to do. Right now, I don't know how many, maybe one or two deals, and that also depends on the players who may leave. It depends on that."

He added: "At this moment, just 48 hours before the final match, which is my first with this club, my focus is not on the players who will leave or those who will come, but on how to prepare in the best way for the match and try to win the final."

Regarding the possibility of signing new players today, with Chelsea setting a deadline for offers for Enzo Fernandez: "Not today, honestly. I don’t think we will do anything today, at this moment, again, I have to give you the same answer I’ve given since day one, and it will always be the same answer. He is a player at another club, and I don’t think it’s right to talk about him, and at the same time, I don’t think it’s right for other clubs to talk about our players. That’s why I won’t say anything about players who are not with us."

Regarding the team's condition: "Erling Haaland is fine; he only had a minor issue behind his ear, but he is okay. There are no new injuries; the only case is Ryan McAdoo. He had a minor problem during the preparation period, but he has already trained with us, so everyone is ready, noting that some players joined us just two days ago."

He added: "Vitor Reis is staying with us. We will see what happens until the transfer market closes. Regarding Savinho, he did not participate in yesterday's training because he was suffering from some illness. We will see today; training will be in the afternoon, and we will assess his condition and then decide."

Regarding the Arsenal match on Sunday in the final: "It is important that we continue to develop and improve. I believe the preparation period was good, as the team improved with each match. Now that the preparation period is over, we must compete and win matches and titles. What I want to see is the right spirit, continuing to develop, and having the right mentality to win matches and titles."

Discussing the midfield reconstruction, he stated: "It's a big challenge. First of all, because Bernardo has shown how good he is on the ball and off it over the past years, but we are also completely convinced that Elliot Anderson will do a great job for this club in the coming years, there’s no doubt about that, we’ll see what happens. Bernardo has already left, and we’ll see what happens with the rest of the players. The coach emphasized: "We are in a phase of change, and when the transfer window closes, we must be good enough to find solutions for the players and the team as quickly as possible. Regarding Rainders' imminent departure and the doubts surrounding Marmoush's stay: "They all work every day, training daily, and by the weekend, they all want to play in matches. When they don't play, it's hard for them to understand the reason or see it. I understand that after one season, some may want to play a bit more. That's natural."

He continued: "Are the Rangers satisfied with Tijani staying? It's a bit difficult to convince players when they've already made their decision; it's not always easy. This is Tijani's case. I believe that when the club, the player, and the coach all think the same way, and the best decision for the player is to leave, then he leaves.
