Officially.. Al-Shorta announces signing of Mohanad Ali
Al-Shorta have announced the return of Iraq national team striker Mohanad Ali "Mimi" to the squad after the end of his recent professional stint with Dibba Al-Fujairah.
Mimi is considered one of the most prominent names to have represented "Al-Qithara" throughout its history, having made a name for himself with the team before embarking on a professional career.
A final agreement has been reached between the two parties regarding all contract terms, closing the file on the striker's return to Baghdad.
The player has signed a formal contract with Al-Shorta that includes a special clause allowing him to leave the club immediately and granting him an international card if he receives a suitable professional offer from abroad.
This move allows the player the freedom to pursue his ambition of returning to professional football whenever the opportunity arises, while maintaining his current stability.
Despite receiving tempting financial offers from major local clubs like Erbil and Zakho, Mimi has chosen to return to Al-Shorta.
The main reason behind the decision was the player's desire for stability and to work under Tunisian coach Sami Trabelsi, with whom he has a successful previous working relationship, alongside his emotional connection to the club that introduced him to the fans.
Al-Shorta's management is seeking to enhance the team's attacking line through this deal before the start of the Iraq Stars League, as well as before entering the AFC Champions League.
Mohannad Ali is expected to join the team's training in the coming hours as they prepare for the new season, in which the "Green" aim to compete for all titles.
Mimi's return represents a significant morale boost for Al-Shorta fans, and it confirms the club's desire to bring back its own players to lead the new project.
