Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku, currently with Napoli, is close to joining Turkish club Fenerbahce, in a deal that could provide Chelsea with additional financial returns, according to Italian newspaper "La Gazzetta dello Sport."

The Italian newspaper reported that Fenerbahce and Napoli are close to reaching an agreement regarding the transfer of Romelu Lukaku, who is 33 years old, with negotiations progressing on a deal valued between £9 million and £10 million.

Romelu Lukaku has agreed in principle to transfer to the Turkish club, while negotiations between the two parties are ongoing to finalize the deal's value.

Chelsea holds a clause in Romelu Lukaku's transfer to Napoli that grants them 40% of the value of any future sale of the Belgian striker, allowing the English club to potentially earn up to £4 million if he completes a transfer to Fenerbahçe at the reported fee.

Chelsea re-signed Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan for £97.5 million in the summer of 2021, but his second experience with the team did not go as expected. After two loan spells with Inter Milan and Roma, he has now made a permanent move to Napoli.

While Romelu Lukaku's return to Chelsea did not achieve the expected success on the pitch, his impending move to Fenerbahce could offer the London club a financial boost thanks to the sell-on clause included in his contract when he left for Napoli.
