Lille has officially announced the renewal of Algerian international midfielder Nabil Bentaleb's contract until the summer of 2028, allowing the 31-year-old to continue his journey with his childhood club after recently participating with the Algeria national team in the 2026 World Cup.

Bentaleb is one of the sons of the city of Lille, having progressed through the club's academy before embarking on professional experiences with Tottenham and Newcastle in England, then Schalke 04 in Germany, and Angers in France, before returning to Lille in the summer of 2023.

The player's journey with the club nearly came to a halt after suffering a heart crisis during the summer of 2024, but he underwent successful surgery and returned to the pitch after a long recovery period thanks to his immense determination.

The player's return witnessed an exceptional moment on February 17, 2025, when he scored a goal just four minutes after coming on as a substitute against Rennes, in his first match back after recovery. He then contributed to leading the team to European qualification, before re-establishing himself as one of the standout midfielders during the 2025-2026 season.

Ben Taleb has made 81 appearances for Lille so far, and he participated with the Algeria national team in all four of the team's matches during the 2026 World Cup, solidifying his status as one of the leaders of the "Desert Warriors."

The club confirmed that extending his contract reflects his technical and leadership value, along with the special relationship he has with the club and its fans, allowing "Amir Wazim" to continue his journey with Lille until 2028.
