The Gulf Football Association has decided to postpone the Gulf Super Cup match that was scheduled to take place between Duhok and Qatari side Al Rayyan at Duhok Stadium in northern Iraq, until further notice, due to the security conditions in the region.

Duhok FC President Abdullah Jalal confirmed in press statements that the Gulf Federation has officially informed the club of the match postponement, noting that the reason is due to the ongoing events in the region and not the situation in the Kurdistan region.

Jalal added: "The Gulf Football Federation praised the security situation and stability in the Kurdistan region, but it made the decision to postpone in order to ensure the safety of players, coaching staff, and fans."

Duhok's president emphasized an important point to reassure fans, stating that the match will not be moved from the city.

Jalal revealed that Al Rayyan of Qatar has also shown interest in playing the match in Duhok, rejecting the idea of moving it to a neutral venue, affirming confidence in the infrastructure and organization in the province.

Jalal stated that the Gulf Union will determine the new date for the match in the near future, in coordination with both clubs, taking into account the local and continental commitments of the teams.

This match marks the first of its kind hosted by Iraq in the Gulf Federation tournaments, and it was expected to witness a significant turnout in Duhok.

The decision to postpone comes at a time when the Duhok administration had completed all logistical and organizational preparations to host the event, a move that would have enhanced the city's status on the map of Gulf championship hosting.
