Shieldrop Rejects Benfica Contract Renewal Despite Improved Offer

Norwegian winger Andreas Schjelderup continues to hold his ground against renewing his contract with Benfica, despite the Portuguese club's management presenting him with a new and improved offer to extend his stay at the club, according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola.

According to the report, Shieldrop has yet to respond to the offer from Benfica and shows no intention of signing a new contract, while his current deal still runs for another two years and includes a release clause worth €100 million, giving the club a strong position in any future negotiations.

Benfica's management sees the team's failure to qualify for the Champions League as a weakening factor in their renewal negotiations. Meanwhile, the player and his agents prefer to wait before making any decisions, especially with increasing interest in his services from several European clubs during the summer transfer window.

Shieldrop is 22 years old and is considered one of the most promising rising talents from Norway, playing primarily as a left winger but capable of operating in multiple attacking positions. He joined Benfica from Danish club FC Nordsjælland, gradually establishing himself in the first team and catching the attention of several European clubs with his impressive performances.
