SL Benfica are moving to secure Gianluca Prestianni's long-term future amid his impressive performances in 2026, having reached a preliminary agreement to extend his contract until 2031, despite his current ties to the club running until December 2029.

According to the Portuguese site "Record", the new agreement includes a significant increase in the young player's salary, with his earnings expected to double, alongside a release clause worth €100 million. This move reflects the club's commitment to retaining his services and its desire to protect him from the ambitions of other clubs.

Gianluca Prestianni's numbers reflect the level of improvement he has experienced with the Portuguese team, as he scored 12 goals and provided 13 assists during 70 matches in a SL Benfica shirt. His scoring rates have notably increased this current season, having netted 8 goals and assisted 5 others in 14 matches under the management of Marco Silva.

The player's brilliance has kept him in Lionel Scaloni's thoughts for the Argentina national team, which has regularly called him up in recent times, despite his absence from the final 26-man squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026.

SL Benfica has a notable record with Argentine players, having seen Nicolás Otamendi captain the team before his move to CA River Plate. The club also made a huge financial return from the transfer of Enzo Fernández, who joined from CA River Plate for €44 million in 2022, before moving to Chelsea six months later for €122 million. The team currently also includes Argentinians Enzo Parinetchia and Claudio Echeverri.
