Real Madrid Joins Race for Young Ivorian Winger Yan Diedhiou

Real Madrid has entered the race to sign young Ivorian winger Yan Diomande and has begun discussions with RB Leipzig regarding the possibility of acquiring the 19-year-old during the current summer transfer window, according to a report by The Athletic.

The report indicates that Paris Saint-Germain is still keen on acquiring Diomande, and the player prefers a move to the European champions. However, the French club has not yet made a financial offer that meets Leipzig's demands, which has opened the door for Real Madrid to enter negotiations strongly.

Real Madrid is working to bolster their right wing position, despite Moroccan international Brahim Diaz's insistence on remaining at Santiago Bernabéu. Both coach José Mourinho and the club's management view Diaz as an important asset, but that hasn't stopped Real Madrid from pursuing a deal for Diomande.

Diomande joined RB Leipzig a year ago from Spanish side Leganés, and has attracted interest from Liverpool with an offer nearing €100 million. However, the German club is holding out for around €130 million, while also looking to extend the player's contract, which runs until the summer of 2030.

RB Leipzig's sporting director Marcel Schäfer has confirmed that the club's intention is clear: they want to retain the player for the next season.

Diomande had a standout season with Leipzig, netting 12 goals and providing 9 assists in 33 Bundesliga matches. He also participated in all four of Ivory Coast's matches at the 2026 World Cup, helping the team reach the Round of 32 before being eliminated by Norway.
