Everton Officially Triggers Merlin Roll's Permanent Transfer from Freiburg
Everton has officially confirmed the activation of the mandatory purchase clause for German midfielder Merlin Roll, ensuring his permanent stay with the Toffees following the end of his loan from Freiburg.
According to reports, the deal is valued at around £18 million (approximately €25 million), triggered after Everton secured their place in the Premier League. The player has signed a contract that runs until the summer of 2029.
Roll joined Everton on loan in the summer of 2025 and impressed the coaching staff led by David Moyes with his performances in the second half of the season, prompting the club to activate the option to convert the loan into a permanent transfer.
The 24-year-old is considered one of the top German talents in midfield, and Everton hopes he will continue to develop in the coming seasons, becoming a key player in the team's long-term project after securing his future with a long-term contract.
