Morocco Thrashes Canada 3-0 to Reach World Cup Quarterfinals
Morocco has secured a place in the quarterfinals of the 2026 World Cup after a well-deserved 3-0 victory against Canada in the Round of 16.
The first half ended in a goalless draw, but the "Atlas Lions" took control in the second half, with Azzedine Ounahi opening the scoring in the 50th minute following a key pass from Achraf Hakimi.
Ounahi then netted his second goal in the 82nd minute, benefiting from a precise assist from Ibrahim Diaz, before Sofiane Rahimi capped off the scoring in stoppage time (90+8), again assisted by Diaz.
The match saw Ismail Sabiri exit injured in the 22nd minute, with Sofiane Rahimi coming on as his replacement, and the latter made his mark by scoring the third goal. He nearly added another, hitting the post with a shot in the 85th minute.
With this victory, Morocco continues its strong performances in the 2026 World Cup, setting up a quarterfinal clash as they pursue a historic achievement on the global stage.
