Morocco draws with Mali and loses fifth place in FIFA ranking
Morocco drew 1-1 with Mali in a friendly match held today at the Grand Stadium in Tangier, as both teams prepare for their upcoming challenges.
Abde Ezzalzouli opened the scoring for the 'Atlas Lions' in the 35th minute, giving Morocco the lead at the end of the first half, before Diara equalized for Mali in the second half.
This encounter came after Mali compensated for their defeat to Ghana in a preparatory match, which they played against Morocco as part of their training program.
The draw has cast a shadow over Morocco's position in the FIFA world rankings, as they have fallen to sixth place after losing the fifth spot they held following their victories over Gabon and Lesotho in the Africa Cup of Nations Qualification.
Brazil has regained the fifth spot in the world rankings, benefiting from Morocco's setback at home against Mali.
