Valverde: I Won't Leave Uruguay Until I Restore Its Glory
Federico Valverde has revealed the deep pain he still feels following Uruguay's early exit from the World Cup, stating that this experience was one of the toughest moments of his football career. He explained that the days following the elimination were not enough to overcome the shock, emphasizing that the bitterness of going out in the group stage will linger within him for a long time.
The Uruguay midfielder affirmed his immense responsibility towards his country, considering representing the national team an indescribable source of pride. He added that he did everything possible to prepare for the tournament, both physically and mentally, working hard throughout the season to avoid repeating past failures, but it was not enough to achieve the desired goal.
Valverde admitted to taking full responsibility for the failure, stressing that he did not perform at the level he expects from himself and could not fulfill his duties adequately towards his country and the fans who supported the team throughout its journey.
Despite the disappointment, the Uruguayan star confirmed his unwavering commitment to representing his country, stating that he will never abandon Uruguay regardless of the circumstances, vowing to continue fighting and working until he restores the national team to its rightful place on the global stage.
