Mexico Defeats Ecuador 2-0 to Advance to World Cup Round of 16

Mexico's national team successfully continued their World Cup journey, securing a spot in the Round of 16 with a deserved 2-0 win over Ecuador in the match held early Wednesday at Estadio Azteca, as part of the Round of 32.

The Mexican team dominated the match from the start, opening the scoring in the 22nd minute through Julian Quinones, who capitalized on a precise pass from Roberto Alvarado, giving the hosts an early advantage.

The pressure from Mexico continued as they doubled their lead in the 31st minute, with Raul Jimenez scoring after a brilliant setup from Julian Quinones, ending the first half with Mexico leading 2-0.

In the second half, Ecuador attempted to get back into the game, but Mexico's defensive organization and the brilliance of their players prevented any reduction in the deficit. The match also saw Ecuador's defender Piero Hincapie sent off in the 90+6 minute.

Mexico will face the winner of the match between England and the Democratic Republic of Congo in the Round of 16.
