Nico Paz May Return to Real Madrid Due to FIFA Regulations

Friday 26-06-2026
Spanish press reports have revealed that the future of Argentine Nico Paz is still a subject of discussion between Real Madrid and Italian club Como, after the player expressed his desire not to return to the royal club during the current summer transfer window.

According to journalist José Félix Díaz, Real Madrid was planning to activate the buy-back clause for the player this summer. However, Nico Paz's stance changed, as he preferred to continue with Como for an additional season instead of joining the team led by Portuguese coach José Mourinho.

The reports added that Real Madrid's management has not yet activated the buy-back clause and has started working on a new deal format that ensures the player remains with Como while the Spanish club retains full control over his future.

According to the proposed plan, Real Madrid aims to sell the remaining share of the player's rights to Como for 60 million euros, which values Nico Paz at around 120 million euros. The royal club will retain the right to repurchase him in the summer of 2027 for approximately 80 million euros. Additionally, Real Madrid will have the right to match any future offer the player receives from another club, ensuring they have the priority to reclaim him if they choose to do so.

The reports indicated that this arrangement came in response to the player's desire to stay with Como for another season, while Real Madrid plans to make room for new signings, primarily the Portuguese Bernardo Silva, before bringing Nico Paz back to the team next summer.

On the other hand, there are FIFA regulations that prohibit buying a player in one summer and then selling or loaning him to another club in the same transfer window. Therefore, it would be impossible for Real Madrid to buy Nico Paz again and then sell him to another club this summer.

The reports confirmed that if Como rejects the new proposal, Real Madrid will resort to activating the buy-back clause this summer for 9 million euros, allowing the player to return directly to the team to compete for his place in Mourinho's lineup for the next season.
