Officially.. Patrik Schick Announces International Retirement
The 30-year-old striker Patrik Schick announced his retirement from international play with the Czech national team following their early exit from the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.
Shaik said on his Instagram account: "Today marks the end of my journey with the national team. This decision was not impulsive, nor did it come out of nowhere. It is a decision I have carried in my mind for a long time and have thought about deeply."
He added, "It was a journey full of emotions, joys, disappointments, victories, and tough moments. I always tried to give my all for the national team and to represent our country in the best possible way."
"I am leaving proud of what I have achieved with the national team jersey, but at the same time, I feel that Czech football has much greater potential, much greater than what it has shown in recent years. It is time to face the truth and make many changes in matters that have not been going well for a long time. I am not saying this out of anger or frustration, but because I truly care about Czech football."
He concluded: "I thank all the fans, my teammates, and everyone who supported me throughout this journey. It has been a great honor to wear the Czech national team jersey."
