New Zealand Player: Egypt Match is Different from Facing Iran
Chris Wood, the New Zealand national team player, confirmed that facing the Egyptian team is different from facing Iran.
The New Zealand team will face Egypt early tomorrow, Monday, in the second round of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.
The match between New Zealand and Iran in the first round of the tournament ended in a 2-2 draw.
Wood said in statements on the official website of the New Zealand team: "I believe this match will be completely different from the first one."
He added: "Everyone has studied both teams, and we studied their match against Belgium, and they studied our match against Iran. I am sure that both teams have devised different strategies to influence the course of the game."
He continued: "For us as players, it's about delivering the same level of energy, enthusiasm, and technical skill on the field, and then raising it again because the match ended in a draw. We want to win, and that's what we will need."
He continued, "For us as players, I believe it would be a great achievement to be the first team from New Zealand to win the World Cup."
He added, "We have a strong incentive for this, and this victory will place us in an excellent position in this tournament, as four points guarantee us qualification."
