The reports clarified that the 21-year-old player, who belongs to Atalanta and played last season on loan to Cagliari, is close to signing a long-term contract with Inter Milan extending until 2031.
Barcelona scouts had been following Balestra in recent times, attending several matches in Italy during the second half of the season to monitor several players, including the Atalanta defender, as part of a scouting plan to strengthen the full-back position.
