Mexico Defeats South Korea and Qualifies for the Round of 32 in the World Cup

The Mexican team secured its second match in Group A with a hard-fought victory by one goal to nil against South Korea, becoming the first team to guarantee passage to the Round of 32 in the 2026 World Cup.

Both teams entered the match with great caution, aware of the sensitivity of the points. Mexico sought to dominate and control the rhythm, while the Korean team relied on counterattacks, dominating most of the first half.

The Mexican team almost opened the scoring with a header from Julian Quinones, who nearly scored, but the Korean goalkeeper managed to catch it, ending the first half in a goalless draw.

At the start of the second half, the pace increased and the attacking boldness from both sides grew. In the 50th minute, the turning point came when the Korean goalkeeper mishandled the ball, allowing Luis Romo to snatch it and score the lead goal for Mexico.

After the Mexican goal, the Korean team tried to get back into the match atmosphere and score an equalizer and came close, but ultimately could not succeed.

Mexico raised its tally to 6 points, leading Group A, becoming the first team to officially qualify for the Round of 32. In contrast, the South Korean team's tally froze at three points in second place, awaiting the third and final round to determine the qualification tickets for the rest of the teams from this group.
