As soon as he appeared in the match, Hakimi became the Moroccan player with the most appearances in World Cup history, having played his 11th match wearing the "Atlas Lions" jersey, surpassing the record he shared with his compatriot Hakim Ziyech, who had played 10 World Cup matches.

The achievements of the Moroccan national team captain did not stop there, as he also equaled the record for the most World Cup appearances by an African player, reaching 11 matches, matching the legends François Omam-Biyik and Asamoah Gyan, according to data from the "Transfermarkt" website.

Hakimi's World Cup journey began in the 2018 edition in Russia, where he participated in three matches during the group stage, before becoming one of the standout stars of the Moroccan national team in the Qatar 2022 World Cup, playing in all seven of the "Atlas Lions'" matches in the tournament.

The Qatar edition witnessed the best achievement in the history of Moroccan, Arab, and African football, as Hakimi and his teammates led the Moroccan national team to reach the semifinals for the first time, an unprecedented accomplishment at the level of Arab and African teams.
