Slovan Bratislava Announces Hiring of Yaya Toure
The Slovak club Slovan Bratislava announced the appointment of former Ivorian star Yaya Toure as the head coach of the first team, with a contract extending for three seasons until the summer of 2029, marking the beginning of a new era within the most decorated club in Slovak football history.
Touré is embarking on his first experience as a head coach at the club level, following a coaching career that included working at the Tottenham Hotspur Academy, as well as serving as an assistant coach to Italian Roberto Mancini with the Saudi national team.
The club's CEO, Ivan Komotrick Jr., confirmed that the signing of Yaya Toure came after a series of meetings and discussions, noting that the Ivorian coach left a remarkable impression from the first meeting between the parties.
Kmotrik said, "I am very pleased to appoint Yaya Toure as the new coach of the team. We have reached a three-year agreement, and together we will begin building a new phase in the history of Slovan Bratislava. I was looking for a coach with experience at the highest level of world football, and at the same time, someone who has the motivation to prove himself as a coach, and I found these qualities in Yaya."
He added, "We share the same ambitions and believe in our ability to achieve success for the club. We have formed a strong technical team and look forward to building a team capable of competing and achieving the club's goals in the coming years."
The Ivorian coach said, "I am very happy and excited, and I can't wait to start working. I have great respect for what the previous coach achieved with the club, and I want to build on those successes while adding my own touch."
He continued: "Football means everything to me. I love challenges, and I am excited to coach a big club with a rich history, a fantastic stadium, and great ambitions. I want the team to play dominant attacking football, achieve victories, and provide the fans with the enjoyment they deserve."
Toure concluded his remarks by expressing his eagerness to get to know the players closely during training, noting that working under Roberto Mancini provided him with valuable experience. However, he had been waiting for a long time for the opportunity to lead his own project as a head coach.
Slovan Bratislava is the most successful club in Slovakia, having won the local league title 32 times, and hopes that Yaya Touré will lead the team to more successes in the coming years.
