The Al-Swehli team was crowned the champion of the Libyan Premier League for the 2025-2026 season for the first time in its history, after defeating Al-Nasr 4-3 in a penalty shootout, following a 1-1 draw in regular time in the final match held at the Cairo International Stadium in Egypt.
The match was highly thrilling, with Al-Swehly opening the scoring through Tunisian Ayoub Ayad from a penalty kick in the 69th minute. Al-Nasr equalized during injury time through Yahya Al-Zlitni, also from a penalty kick, leading the encounter to a penalty shootout.
In the penalty shootout, Al-Swehly succeeded in prevailing with a score of 4-3, writing a new chapter in its football history and securing its first Libyan league title since the club's establishment, after an exceptional season concluded with winning the coveted shield.
