Authorities in Paris fear new riots during the celebrations at Champ de Mars, following a night of widespread disturbances in the French capital after the Paris Saint-Germain match, increasing security concerns ahead of the awaited event.
According to 'Foot Mercato', Paris and several other French cities like Grenoble and Nantes experienced scattered chaos, with 416 people arrested across the country, including 283 in the capital, with tension points recorded around the ring road, the Champs-Élysées, and surrounding streets, as well as the Porte de Saint-Cloud.
Paris is preparing to welcome around 100,000 people for the Paris Saint-Germain club celebrations at Champ de Mars, amid fears of a repeat of chaotic scenes during the large public gathering.
The report quoted Fabien Bouglay, spokesperson for the Alliance 75 union, expressing concerns about elements that might try to spoil the festive atmosphere, despite it being held during daylight hours.
Conversely, French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez confirmed that the scheduled celebrations at Champ de Mars will not be canceled.
