After a Significant Financial Concession, Dybala Nears Contract Renewal with Roma
The Argentine Paulo Dybala is close to extending his contract with Roma for an additional two years, after reaching a new agreement that includes a significant reduction in his salary to continue his journey with the Italian team.
The Italian newspaper "La Gazzetta dello Sport" reported that Dybala preferred to stay in Rome despite the ongoing interest from Boca Juniors, a club that holds a special place for the player, as he was inclined to remain at the Stadio Olimpico even before the team secured qualification for the Champions League.
The report indicated that the Argentine player is on the verge of signing a new two-year contract, just days before his current contract expires and he becomes a free agent.
The newspaper added that Dybala agreed to reduce his annual salary from 8 million euros to 2.5 million euros, along with incentives and bonuses linked to the number of matches he will participate in, in light of the recurring injuries that have affected his career in recent years.
The decision to retain the player is not limited to the technical aspects supported by coach Gian Piero Gasperini, but also extends to the marketing side, as Dybala's jerseys remain among the best-selling within the club.
Dybala joined Roma in the summer of 2022 on a free transfer after leaving Juventus, having spent the majority of his professional career in Italian football since his move to Palermo in 2012.
Despite suffering from injuries during the past season, the 32-year-old participated in 27 matches across various competitions, scoring 3 goals and providing 8 assists for the Italian capital team.
