Julian Alvarez Nearing Departure from Atletico Madrid
Speculation is growing about the future of Argentine star Julian Alvarez at Atletico Madrid, amid strong indications that he might leave during the upcoming transfer window, with increasing interest from major European clubs to acquire his services.
In the past few hours, ambiguity has increased within the corridors of the Spanish club, especially after the statements made by coach Diego Simeone following the heavy 5-1 defeat against Villarreal in the last round of the Spanish league.
When asked about Alvarez's future, Simeone gave a brief but controversial response, saying: "This question is not for me, but for Julian himself. He is mature enough to know what he will do, and I imagine he has already made his decision."
According to journalist Pedro Fulana on "Cadena SER" radio, Atletico Madrid's management has become convinced that the player is seriously considering embarking on a new experience away from the "Wanda Metropolitano."
Fulana said, "Within Atletico, there is a clear feeling that Julian wants to leave, and it's not just impressions; the club knows that there have been movements and contacts already."
He added: "It will be a long summer. Miguel Angel Gil Marin wants to keep the player, but at the same time, he will not let him go for a low price, as the club is looking for a significant deal if the sale happens."
The report indicated that several major European clubs are monitoring the situation of the Argentine forward, led by Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Arsenal.
Folana explained: "In addition to Barcelona, there have been contacts from intermediaries working on behalf of Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal to inquire about the player's situation. It is clear within Atletico that such moves do not occur without the consent of the player's agents, and therefore from Julian himself."
In the same context, journalist Miguel Martín Talavera confirmed that Atletico's management no longer rules out the idea of selling Alvarez, especially given the need to provide financial liquidity to support Simeone's project for the next season.
He said, "The club understands that Apollo's investments will be limited, so the contracting policy will not differ much from recent seasons."
He added, "Simeone wants to sign a strong left-back, one or two defenders, in addition to a new midfielder, and the departure of Julian Alvarez may provide the management with the necessary funds to execute these deals."
