Simeone: Everyone Wants to Win Titles, and Alvarez Has Already Made His Decision

Diego Simeone, the head coach of Atlético Madrid, spoke after the end of the team's season, which the Rojiblancos finished without winning any titles after playing 61 matches across various competitions. He discussed his assessment of the season and the future of some players within the team.

Regarding the defeat, Simeone said: "We did not respond at any moment to the match we should have played. We put in a tremendous effort throughout the season, and after being knocked out by Arsenal, the best match we played was against Celta Vigo. Against Osasuna and Girona, they missed many chances and we won, but today they did not miss."

He added: "We are used to reaching this Champions League qualifying spot, but we must be cautious of the teams behind us as they will come back strong again. It's not easy."

Regarding his assessment of the season, he continued: "I have always been very bad at evaluations. I think we had a good to very good season. We played 61 matches, while Villarreal, who had a very good season, played far fewer matches."

He continued: "We played very impressive matches throughout the season, but no one wants to finish the season in third place; everyone wants to be a champion."

Regarding the goals conceded, he said: "The numbers are clear and harsh; we conceded many goals, and this doesn't allow you to compete. In the Champions League, we scored a very large number of goals, and that's why we were able to go far."

Regarding Koke, he added: "This is what we always talk about with him. When the season started, we didn't imagine he could play this many matches. We need him, no matter the position he occupies within the team. The important thing is that he's present. I hope we can have a good season together."

When asked about Julian Alvarez, Simeone said, "I think he has already made his decision."
