Amid Barcelona's Interest, Chelsea Holds on to Joao Pedro

Barcelona continues its interest in signing Brazilian striker Joao Pedro, but Chelsea's management has completely closed the door on the idea of the player's departure during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Journalist Ben Jacobs confirmed that Barcelona has indeed made exploratory contacts regarding the player, but Chelsea is not considering selling its striker under any circumstances, even if a substantial financial offer is made.

The London club considers Joao Pedro a key element in its new sports project, especially after the strong performance the player delivered during his first season with the team.

The Brazilian striker finished the season having scored 20 goals and provided 9 assists, making him one of the most prominent attacking names in European football at the moment.

Ben Jacobs pointed out that Chelsea's insistence on keeping the player is not only related to financial value, despite figures ranging between 80 and 100 million euros being circulated, but also due to the management's belief that Joao Pedro will be one of the leaders of the club's future project.

Chelsea is preparing for a new phase after a season that witnessed many technical changes, especially following the signing of coach Xabi Alonso to lead the team.

On the other hand, Barcelona sees that Joao Pedro's specifications greatly fit the playing style of coach Hans Flick, given his technical abilities and diverse attacking movements, along with his potential compatibility with Lamine Yamal in the front line.

Barcelona's officials also believe that the player's absence from the Brazil national football team roster announced by coach Carlo Ancelotti for the upcoming World Cup might give Barcelona a chance to persuade the player to embark on a new experience that would help him regain his international standing.

Barcelona also relies on its continuous participation in the UEFA Champions League as an important attraction, especially since Chelsea will not participate in the tournament next season, which could give the Spanish club an additional advantage if it decides to move officially to finalize the deal.
