Modric Determines His Future Plans

Reports on Friday indicated that Croatian Luka Modric wishes to continue his playing career for an additional season after the 2026 World Cup, and then begin his coaching career starting from the 2027/2028 season, with the possibility of working within the coaching staff of coach Massimiliano Allegri.

According to the Italian newspaper "Corriere dello Sport," Modric plans to continue playing either with AC Milan or another club next season. However, his decision depends on several factors related to the end of the current season and the coaching staff's plans.

The report clarified that there are two essential conditions for Modric to stay at Milan for an additional season. The first is ensuring the team's qualification for the 2026/2027 UEFA Champions League, as Milan is currently in third place, two points ahead of fifth place, before the final round of the league.

The second condition is the player's desire to continue playing under the leadership of Massimiliano Allegri, whose name has recently been linked with the possibility of coaching Napoli or the Italian national team, despite indications suggesting he is close to continuing with Milan.

The newspaper added that Modric expressed great satisfaction with his experience under Allegri's leadership, with a relationship of mutual appreciation and respect between the two parties.

The report indicated that this relationship might lead Modric, when he begins his coaching career in the 2027/2028 season, to work again with Allegri, either at Milan or at another club.

In a related context, Modric is aiming to return to the starting lineup in Milan's recent Serie A match against Cagliari on Sunday, after his quick recovery from a cheekbone fracture he sustained during the match against Juventus a few weeks ago.

The report also stated that the Milan team entered a mini training camp on Friday, which will continue until the match against Cagliari on Sunday.
