Arteta: We Were Unlucky, and I Will Watch the Manchester City vs Bournemouth Match

Tuesday 19-05-2026
Mikel Arteta, the star of Arsenal, spoke in a press statement following the 1-0 victory over Burnley in the match that brought the two teams together as part of the 37th round of the English Premier League, held at the Emirates Stadium.

The coach said in his speech: "I am very pleased with the performance and the result. In the first half, I believe we delivered our best performance of the season. The score should have been higher, but we didn't achieve that, and we demonstrated what we've shown throughout the season, which is that we are capable of defending effectively when we need to."

He added, "We were not fortunate enough to score the second or third goal. We faced a tough opponent. Look at the fighting spirit they showed today in trying to achieve a positive result. This tournament is extremely difficult."

He continued, "I am very happy tonight. We have accomplished our mission, and did what we could. We have to wait and see what happens tomorrow (between Manchester City and Bournemouth), and then we will prepare for the match against Crystal Palace."

He emphasized, "Burnley did it last week against Aston Villa, so we knew this was going to happen. We had to maintain our high level, in the way we've competed throughout the season, and we need to win another match."

He continued: "I will watch the match tomorrow between City and Bournemouth. Tomorrow we start preparing for the Crystal Palace match, and we will definitely watch it. Only one match remains."

He concluded regarding Havertz's tackle on a Burnley player and not receiving a red card: "I didn't see the tackle again. He said it wasn't a foul, but I'm not sure, I didn't see it."

It is noted that Arsenal will officially win the title if Manchester City falters against Bournemouth, whether by drawing or losing.
