Kompany: Things Weren't Easy, We Were Better in the Second Half
Vincent Kompany, the head coach of Bayern Munich, spoke after his team's 1-0 victory over Wolfsburg in the German league, commenting on his team's performance during the match.
Kompany said: "The problem is not the intention to counter-press. You don't always need to feel like you have to score three goals in the first 10 or 15 minutes and overwhelm the opponent. We started well but lost our patience, and then it becomes more difficult. In the end, the legs make the difference, and I think that's why we were much better in the second half. It was just about maintaining possession; we got the job done in the second half."
He added: "It's a healthy self-confidence. When you score 120 goals, everyone thinks it happens automatically in attack, but that's not true. We have to wait until the legs get tired, and then you get the spaces."
He continued: "Once again, I appreciate the response. It's not easy to come out and then change everything, but we did it. Things were not easy at all. We must respect that they faced us with equality. We shouldn't be surprised when the match becomes a little difficult. Wolfsburg are fighting for their lives, and we must respect that."
