European Federations Move to Oust Infantino Ahead of FIFA Elections

Several European federations have officially begun to take action against Gianni Infantino's continued presidency of FIFA, after announcing their withdrawal of support for his re-election in the upcoming elections.

According to reports, the football associations of Wales and Romania were the first to issue official statements confirming their refusal to support Infantino. The English Football Association later joined the same stance, becoming the first European associations to publicly declare their opposition.

This escalation follows UEFA's decision to reject the FFE project, which aimed to allocate 20% of the commercial revenues from the World Cup and FIFA tournaments to private investment funds. This proposal has generated widespread controversy within the football system.

UEFA confirmed in a previous statement that it is considering legal and arbitration actions against FIFA regarding this project, in a move that reflects the escalating dispute between the two parties.

The FIFA presidential elections are scheduled for March 18 in Rabat, Morocco, amid expectations that the European federation will seek to support an alternative candidate to challenge Infantino.

Reports indicate that Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is among the names being considered within UEFA, alongside CONCACAF president Victor Montagliani, although the identity of the candidate who will receive European support has not yet been determined.
