The Spanish newspaper "Sport" revealed details of the negotiations that took place between Barcelona and Bayern Munich regarding the signing of the English striker Harry Kane in the past period.

Kane joined Bayern Munich in 2023, coming from Tottenham Hotspur, in a deal worth around 95 million euros, and since then he has delivered outstanding performances that have made him one of the most prominent strikers in his position this season.

Kane has been linked with a move to Barcelona, especially since his contract with Bayern Munich expires at the end of next season, without reaching an agreement on a renewal so far.

According to the newspaper, Barcelona had the opportunity to sign Kane last December as a potential replacement for the Polish player Robert Lewandowski. Several contacts were made with the player, but the deal was not completed, and the English striker preferred to stay with his German club.

The report clarified that Kane did not want to leave Bayern Munich, even though his agent was exploring available options during the last summer transfer window in anticipation of a possible departure.

She added that Kane's contract includes a release clause worth 60 million pounds, which could have been activated during the summer of this year, provided Bayern Munich's management was notified last January. However, this did not happen, making this option unavailable at the present time.

Barcelona's communications with Kane have not resulted in any tangible progress, amid the uncertainty surrounding Lewandowski's situation. The Catalan club's management leans towards keeping him for an additional season. If they sign a new striker, Argentine Julian Alvarez, the star of Atletico Madrid, is considered the first choice.

In a related context, Kane received enticing offers from Saudi league clubs, including an offer from Al-Ittihad Jeddah. However, he refused to activate the release clause in January, preferring to stay with Bayern Munich.

Kane aims to renew his contract with Bayern Munich for an additional two years until the summer of 2029, which is welcomed by the club's management. There are expectations of reaching an agreement before the World Cup kicks off next June.

Bayern Munich does not plan to part ways with Kane, and reports indicate that the renewal negotiations will not take long given both parties' desire to continue.
