Barcelona has placed Argentine defender Cristian Romero, a Tottenham player, on its list of potential targets for the upcoming summer transfer window as part of its efforts to strengthen the backline.

Barcelona aims to sign a new central defender, with Alessandro Bastoni, the Inter Milan star, topping the Catalan club's priority list.

According to the Spanish newspaper "Sport," Inter Milan's financial demands, amounting to 70 million euros, may hinder the completion of the deal, prompting Barcelona's management to consider other alternatives at present.

In this context, Deco, the sporting director of Barcelona, believes that Romero is the most suitable option to strengthen the defense if the deal with Bastoni falls through. The club has already started communicating with the player's agents to discuss the possibility of his transfer.

Romero is 28 years old and is under contract with Tottenham until 2029. He is also attracting interest from both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid amid competition to sign him in the upcoming transfer market.
