Al-Ahli Equals Korea's Achievement and Leads Saudi Arabia to Top of Asia
Al-Ahli continued to make continental history after winning the Asian Champions League for the elite, leading Saudi football to the top of the continent. This achievement came after defeating Machida Zelvia with a score of one to zero in the final held on Saturday evening.
With this victory, Saudi clubs equaled their South Korean counterparts as the most crowned in the tournament, and Al-Ahli raised the tally of Saudi clubs to six titles in the continental competition.
On the other hand, the tally of Japanese clubs stopped at only five titles, while the Saudi championships were distributed among Al-Ahli, Al-Hilal, and Al-Ittihad, with each team winning two titles.
Al-Ahli also retained its title, which it achieved in May 2025 after its previous victory in the final. This dominance reflects the development of Saudi football and its strong return to continental competition.
It is noted that the championship began in 2003, before taking on its modern "elite" form starting from the 2024-2025 edition.
