Slot: Salah Always Returns to Scoring, My Focus is on the Crystal Palace Match
Dutchman Arne Slot, the head coach of Liverpool, spoke about the level of the Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, as the end of his last season with the team approaches, expressing his confidence in the player's ability to regain his usual scoring rate.
Slot said during the press conference for the Crystal Palace match: "It is very important for us to have forwards who score goals. Last season's success depended on having several players who scored frequently, but this season the goals are not at the same rate."
He added: "There is a slight drop in creating chances, but it does not match the decline in goal scoring. As Salah has said repeatedly, there are periods when the ball comes to you easily and you score without much effort, and others when you make double the effort without scoring, but things usually return to normal, and what's normal for Salah at Liverpool is scoring goals."
The Liverpool coach continued: "I'm here mainly in the short term, so my focus is on the Crystal Palace match. There are discussions about next season, but my full focus is on what's left of this season."
He continued: "The margins are very small, and one or two results can make a big difference. Two weeks ago, we weren't five points ahead of sixth place, so all possibilities are open."
He concluded his statements by saying: "Our full focus is on the Crystal Palace match. We haven't been able to beat them in three matches this season, and over the last 8 matches, we have collected 16 points. It may not always seem clear, but our recent performance in the league is acceptable."
