The Spanish newspaper 'Marca' revealed that Atlético Madrid is pressing hard to sign the German midfielder Julian Brandt, the star of Borussia Dortmund, whose contract with the German club ends at the end of the current season.

Brandt is 29 years old and joined Dortmund in 2019. He has played in the playmaker position and on the wings, contributing to his team's reach to the Champions League final in 2024, before losing to Real Madrid.

According to the same source, the player has informed Dortmund's management of his unwillingness to renew his contract, which opens the door for his departure for free at the end of June, with Atlético Madrid and other clubs like Arsenal entering the race to sign him.

Atlético Madrid's interest in Brandt comes as a compensation for Antoine Griezmann's departure, as the management sees him capable of performing a similar role in playmaking and attack.

This season, Brandt has played 37 matches, scoring 11 goals and providing 3 assists, while possessing an impressive record with Dortmund and Leverkusen, making him a prominent target in the transfer market.
