The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has decided to launch an urgent investigation into the chaos that occurred at the Stade de la Marche during the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup semi-final, with the case being referred to the Disciplinary Committee for a decision at a meeting scheduled for April 23, 2026.

CAF began its actions by forming an emergency committee headed by Christian Emeruwa, with the participation of the match observer and the general coordinator, to gather all evidence related to the fans storming the pitch, which caused chaos affecting the progress of the match.

These events caused the match to be delayed by about 75 minutes, along with several interruptions during its course, which clearly disrupted the flow of the game.

According to the data, the African Union acted directly despite no official complaint being filed by either party of the match, in a move that reflects the Confederation of African Football's (CAF) strictness towards any violations affecting safety standards within stadiums.

The incident witnessed breaches that affected the security of organizers, media personnel, and security officers, casting a negative shadow on the image of the championship.

The Disciplinary Committee is expected to rely on detailed reports before issuing its decisions, with expectations of imposing sanctions on the concerned fans, as well as the Algerian Federation, as part of CAF's efforts to enforce discipline and maintain the reputation of African competitions.
