Gasperini: Roma is an Exceptional Experience for Me, and This is When My Future Will Be Decided
Sunday 19-04-2026
Gian Piero Gasperini, the coach of Roma, spoke about his team's 1-1 draw against Atalanta and commented on his future with the club in his statements after the match.

Gasperini said: "Carnesecchi made several great saves, as did Svilar in one opportunity, but we tried to win more than Atalanta."

He continued: "The first half was very entertaining, and after the break, some fatigue appeared, leading to more mistakes, but we continued to strive for victory until the final whistle."

He added: "Sometimes, like in the matches against Juventus and Napoli, we were ahead, and we performed well against Milan, and in the Como match, we played with ten players, but the only defeat in the second half of the season was against Inter, which is superior."

The Roma coach pointed out the physical condition of some players, saying: "Matias Soule and Gianluca Mancini were not at their best, while Devyne Rensch left the match due to a muscle problem."

He explained: "Until mid-December, we had stability in the lineup, which helped us defend well, but after Malen joined in January, the attack improved significantly, and on the other hand, our defense declined."

About the atmosphere within the club: "I was involved in a controversy that lasted throughout the week, and I did not respond and will continue not to respond because this is not pleasant for everyone."

He continued: "There are five matches left, and we are still competing for important goals, and if we are four points ahead of Atalanta, it means we have done a good job, and we are close to Como and Juventus, and I am focusing on this situation."

He concluded his statements by talking about his future, saying: "We must finish the season well, because this was an exceptional experience for me, and what will happen next we will discuss at the end of the season."
