Camavinga's Dismissal Against Bayern Munich Sparks Doubts at Real Madrid
Saturday 18-04-2026
Tensions between Real Madrid and UEFA have resurfaced following the recent loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, amid doubts within the royal club about controversial refereeing decisions, according to the Spanish newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo'.

Real Madrid's management believes that the dismissal of their player Eduardo Camavinga during the match was a pivotal decision in the team's elimination, after he received a second yellow card in the 87th minute for time-wasting, a decision made by Slovenian referee Slavko Vincic.

The report indicated that the doubts within the club's corridors do not stop at the refereeing decision alone but extend to the connection between the referee and UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin, given their shared nationality, which some within the club see as a suspicious indicator.

This incident has brought old disputes between Real Madrid and UEFA back to the surface, rooted in the Spanish club's leadership in the Super League project, which was considered a direct threat to UEFA's status and its competitions, primarily the Champions League.

Despite the agreement announced between the two parties on February 11th, which contributed to relatively calming the situation, the aftermath of the Munich match has reopened the debate, especially after Čeferin himself attended the first leg at the Santiago Bernabéu on April 8th.

The report also highlighted the rapid career progression of the referee, who officiated the Europa League final in 2022 and the Champions League final in 2024, despite belonging to a league that does not have strong representation on the European stage, raising additional questions within the club's environment.

The report noted that there is a belief within Real Madrid that what happened may be a reaction or revenge linked to the Super League file, which could reignite disputes between the two parties in the coming period, after they seemed to be on the path to calm.
