First Comment from Moamen Soliman After the Draw with Al-Karma
Friday 17-04-2026
The Egyptian Moamen Soliman, the head coach of the Police Club, expressed his dissatisfaction with the 1-1 draw against Al-Karma in the 29th round of the Iraqi Stars League, confirming that his team lost two valuable points in the title race, and warning that the gap with the leader Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya could widen to 9 points if the 'Hawks' win against Duhok tomorrow.

The 'Harp' coach said in the press conference after the match: 'Today's draw feels like a loss for us. We advanced early with a penalty and should have killed the game with a second goal, but we didn't take advantage of the opportunities we had. Al-Karma is a respectable team and took advantage of the penalty they got and came back in the result.'

Soliman added: 'We missed chances that shouldn't be missed in the second half, and the goalkeeper faced more than one real threat. When you don't score while being the better team, you get punished. That's what happened today. We knew that Al-Karma would play with high spirits on their field, but the draw is a disappointing result for us at this critical time in the league.'

The Police coach touched on the competition calculations for the title after today's draw, saying: 'With this draw, our tally is 60 points in second place. Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya has 66 points and will play tomorrow against Duhok. If Al-Jawiya wins, the gap will become 9 points before 5 rounds from the end, which is a very big gap that makes our task much harder in the league competition.'

He continued: 'We don't want to give up, but we must be realistic. Losing points at this stage is forbidden, and we lost 5 points in the last two matches against Al-Zawraa and Al-Karma. The competitor takes advantage of our stumbles in the best way.'

The Police coach concluded his statements by confirming his responsibility: 'I am the first responsible for the result and performance. The players did what they had to do, but in the end, we did not achieve what was required. We will fight until the last round, and we await the leader's stumble. Football knows no impossible, but first, we must win our matches before looking at others' results.'

The draw raised the Police's tally to 60 points in second place, while Al-Karma reached 51 points in fifth place. The 'Harp' will be in a waiting position tomorrow when Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya faces its host Duhok at 7:30 PM, as any result other than a win or draw for Duhok will distance the Police further from the dream of the title.
