Thursday 16-04-2026
Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany spoke in a press statement following the 4-3 victory over Real Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals at Allianz Arena, allowing the Bavarians to advance to the semi-finals after also winning the first leg 2-1.

The coach said in his statement: 'It was a very emotional match. We had a lot of possession and always felt we could score. But Real Madrid remains Real Madrid. They have very fast players and are always a threat.'

He added: 'The players were mentally strong today to recover from setbacks. The fans also helped us. We stayed calm and always felt our moment would come. The players deserved this win.'

He continued: 'Was this the biggest match of your coaching career? Yes, but the next match is the biggest. We will continue to progress.'

He concluded regarding his absence from the PSG match due to suspension: 'I always try to stay calm on the sidelines, but it's natural to speak when my player [Stanisic] is on the ground. I was surprised to receive a yellow card for that...'
