Liverpool is preparing for a tough task as they face Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals at Anfield on Tuesday evening, following a 2-0 loss in the first leg in Paris.

The team had secured an important 2-0 victory over Fulham in the English Premier League, which restored some confidence ahead of the crucial European encounter.

Head coach Arne Slot spoke about several issues concerning the team ahead of the anticipated match. Arne Slot mentioned that the team was aware from the start of a transitional phase within the club.

He added: "What we did after Jürgen's departure, we always knew there would be a transitional phase and that a new cycle would begin sooner or later."

He concluded by saying: "We spent money on talented young players who had time to grow within the same cycle as the past seven or eight years, with some players who have already left or will leave at the end of the season. We brought in talented young players to create a new cycle. Therefore, we needed to let many players go to save money to buy them."

And Salou added: "We did not include Wirtz in the team that played against Paris Saint-Germain last season; we brought him in for future success, whether in the short, medium, or long term."

He continued: "I am convinced that maybe tomorrow, or perhaps next season, he will create special moments here at Anfield, like Hugo, Milos, and Jeremy, and we are adding another player, Jacque. Tomorrow is his first big opportunity or for someone else, but we didn't bring him for just one match."

Regarding the player Ngomouha: "He can handle this type of match because of his personality; he doesn't get easily distracted. Anyone familiar with his history knows that he has been living under the pressure of expectations for many years, yet he has always been able to focus on football and improve to become stronger."

He added: "At the age of 17, he has already played several key matches with Liverpool. The second reason is his quality; at the highest level, he is capable of facing players one-on-one and troubling the defenders in front of him. He has done very well so far, and it's good that he is surrounded by many experienced players."

He touched on the tactical aspect, saying: "We must find the perfect balance between being offensive, and to be offensive, you need to possess the ball and do many things well before the attackers begin their assault."

He stated: "For this reason, throughout the history of this club, you will see many players who excel in attack but also fulfill their defensive duties. Both teams like to have possession of the ball. They had 76% in the last match, and this is the first point we need to change. When we have the ball, it's nice to have an offensive threat, and that's what we will do tomorrow."

He continued: "If you change the system, the focus is often on the system itself rather than the style of play. Our approach tomorrow is not much different from what happened in Paris."

He continued: "I don't set up a team to defend for 90 minutes in a low block. We tried to press them high at several moments, but they reached the goal 7 or 8 times. Our approach is to take risks to regain the ball, but you need to press them, and we saw how difficult that is. However, last season Anfield had a significant impact, and I expect the same tomorrow."

Slot said about the match: "Remind me of the score? It was 2-0. Our feeling was completely different, but it was 2-0."

He added: "This season, we have proven in big matches that we are capable of delivering outstanding performances. Yes, we sometimes experience fluctuations, but many of our matches have been very good."

He concluded by saying: "During the 18 months with me, we played 49 matches in which we scored two or more goals. Not all of them were against Paris, but the opponents were strong. There is a belief that we are capable of doing something special tomorrow, but we must be at our best because we are facing the European champions. It will be a very tough match, but not impossible."
