Spalletti's Proposal to Restore the Prestige of the Italian National Team
Friday 10-04-2026
Luciano Spalletti, the Juventus coach, revealed his proposal aimed at developing the level of the Italian national team in the future and enhancing young talents in the Italian league, especially after failing to qualify for the World Cup.

The Italian national team failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup after losing in the playoffs to Bosnia and Herzegovina, marking the third consecutive tournament absence for the Azzurri.

Spalletti said in his statements: "We must nurture emerging talents because they will always appear. My suggestion is: what if we required every team in the Italian league to have a player under 19 years old on the field at all times?"

He added, "This will force every club to have about four players from this age group on their roster, which means providing opportunities for about 80 young players, thereby supporting and developing them further."

He concluded: "Perhaps none of them are ready at Juventus, but a standout player might emerge in a team like Cremonese. Ultimately, this will benefit the Italian national team and enhance its level."
