The Spanish newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo' confirmed that the under 11 and under 13 teams from Real Madrid and Betis will participate in the Aurelio Pereira Tournament, organized by Sporting Lisbon in the Portuguese capital, in honor of the late scout who discovered prominent players like Cristiano Ronaldo.
The newspaper explained that the tournament will take place from April 10 to 12 at the university stadium in Lisbon, and alongside the Spanish teams, teams from Manchester City and the host club Sporting will also participate, reflecting the importance of the event at the European youth level.
Aurelio Pereira, who passed away in April 2025, was one of the most prominent figures in discovering and developing young football talents in Portugal. He contributed to building a strong base of talented players who reached major clubs.
In 1988, Pereira founded and managed the talent scouting department at Sporting Club, discovering big names like Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Figo, as well as Paulo Futre and Ricardo Quaresma, reflecting his significant impact on European football.
