Death of Romanian Coaching Legend Mircea Lucescu

The veteran Romanian coach Mircea Lucescu passed away at the age of 80, following a deterioration in his health due to a severe heart attack, just a few days after resigning from coaching the Romanian national team.

Lucescu suffered a sudden health issue in recent days, being taken to the hospital after collapsing during an activity with the national team. His condition worsened due to consecutive heart problems, leading to his admission to intensive care, but he was unable to recover.

Lucescu is considered one of the most prominent coaches in the history of European football, with a coaching career spanning over four decades. During this time, he led major clubs such as Inter Milan, Galatasaray, and Shakhtar Donetsk, achieving numerous titles, most notably the UEFA Cup with Shakhtar.

He also left a significant mark with the Romanian national team, both as a player who participated in the 1970 World Cup and as a coach who led the team to the 1984 European Championship, cementing his name as one of the greatest figures in the history of Romanian and world football.
