Official: Inter Signs John Stones

Inter Milan has officially announced the signing of English defender John Stones, in a deal that represents one of the team's most significant reinforcements ahead of the new season, following a successful career spent in English football with Manchester City.

John Stones was born on May 28, 1994, in Barnsley, England, and began his football journey at an early age with Penistone Church, before joining Barnsley's academy. Despite starting out as a forward, his physical and technical development led him to transition to a center-back role, where he caught attention for his ability to build play and play the ball out from the back.

John Stones fulfilled his first dream when he made his debut with Barnsley’s first team in 2012, before moving to Everton and establishing himself as one of the top emerging defenders in England. During that time, he also made his first appearance for the England national team, marking the beginning of his international career that later made him a key pillar of the "Three Lions".

In the summer of 2016, Stones transferred to Manchester City, where he experienced the most successful periods of his career under Pep Guardiola. He has become one of the best defenders in the world thanks to his tactical intelligence, passing quality, and defensive solidity. With City, he has played 295 official matches, scoring 19 goals, and has won 6 Premier League titles, 3 FA Cups, 5 League Cups, 3 Community Shields, as well as the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.

On the international stage, Stones has played 94 matches for the England national team, helping them reach the European Championship finals twice in 2021 and 2024. He also reached the World Cup semi-finals on two occasions before leading England to a third-place finish in the 2026 World Cup against France.

After more than three decades spent in England, John Stones begins a new challenge in Serie A, where he will don the Inter Milan jersey for the first time, bringing his vast experience to the team in a move he hopes will continue his trophy-laden career and write a new chapter in his professional journey.
