Arbeloa: This Does Not Worry Me, We Aim to Win La Liga and the Champions League
Friday 03-04-2026
Real Madrid coach Álvaro Arbeloa appeared at a press conference to discuss tomorrow's match against Mallorca, in the 30th round of the Spanish League, which will take place at the Son Moix Stadium.

The coach said: "The international players have returned in excellent physical condition. Fortunately, they are all fine, which is the primary goal when they join their national teams. For the vast majority, it was a positive experience, and we who stayed here have put in a lot of effort, knowing that we will face a strong opponent and that playing away after a break will not be easy. We have nine final matches left in the Spanish league, and tomorrow is the first of these matches."

He added, "I intend to field the strongest possible lineup to win the match. We no longer have room for error, and we aim to win every championship in every match. There are many games in a very short period, but we have a team with great players. We will need everyone. We understand that winning every match requires everyone's commitment."

Regarding Jude Bellingham: "His situation was unique. He played for a few minutes against Atletico, and his national team coach decided not to play him. I understand that his coach didn't want to take any risks, but he is ready to play tomorrow, and we need him to regain his fitness."

He continued: "Militao is ready and will be with us tomorrow. When he is in full fitness, he is undoubtedly the best defender in the world. I haven't had the chance to coach him in any match, but sometimes I feel like there are two defenders when he's on the field. He will add a lot; he is a player who changes the course of the game. His presence will be crucial if we want to compete for all the titles."

Regarding the reports about the examination of Mbappe's healthy knee: "Mbappe made it clear in recent days, that information is completely false. But I think it's time to leave the topic of Mbappe's knee behind us and focus on his goals and the goal he scored with his national team. We hope he can also score goals with us and return to the level he has shown and possesses. We want to talk about the quality he has and how capable he is of helping us."

He continued: "Is Mbappe frustrated for not starting in the derby? Not at all. During the two months I spent with him, we had very direct communication. Not including him in the starting lineup against Atletico was a logical decision; there is no problem or objection. He knew what he needed to do, and he is always at the team's disposal. From my side, he has always shown me great respect in all my decisions, and I have never faced the slightest problem or objection with him. He has always made himself available to me, and I consider myself fortunate to have a player of such value and humility."

Regarding Mbappe's role in pressing: "He has a great commitment to his team and teammates, and he fully understands what I ask of him, as well as what I ask of Vinicius Junior or Brahim Diaz. We ask the players who play up front to have that collective spirit that we demand from all players. Obviously, forwards should defend less than defenders, just as they attack more than defenders do. Every player on the team knows the role they need to play. We need to be a very committed team every day with all the players, the 25 players and the 11 on the field for the full 90 minutes. We realize that to win every match, we need everyone's commitment. At this stage of the season, our only goal is to finish matches without sparing any effort. Then, thanks to the talent they have, they make the difference and win matches, but with a lot of hard work. Kylian is the first to know that we need his commitment."

Regarding Brahim Diaz: "We ask him to continue delivering the level he is showing. This is the goal for every player. When they step onto the field, they need to showcase their talent and desire. He has played at a very high level, and now the decision is up to me. Certainly, until the end of the season, he will continue to get a lot of minutes on the field because he deserves it and plays a very important role. He has given us a lot when he starts, and he is also capable of coming off the bench and making a difference. He has great quality and makes an impact. He came from a situation that wasn't easy, but he knew how to fight, and when I gave him the opportunity, he showed the quality of the player he is. This is what we need from every player. We have an exceptional squad, with many very good players. I will need all of them because there are many tough matches, and everyone will be very important."

He added about Vinicius's condition: "He is tired, and that's natural. My friend Carlo Ancelotti hasn't given him much rest, but that's understandable. Who would want to rest a player like him? I completely understand that, but the two matches were very tough for him. Real Madrid and the Brazilian national team are teams where the level of demands is very high, but that's the reality for him. He is a great player, and it's clear he came after a heavy load of matches since the beginning of 2026. I think he hasn't stopped for a single day. We will see how he is today before tomorrow's match and we will decide."

He noted: "Did you watch your players' international matches? Yes, of course. We must follow all our players' matches as well as post-match conditions, how they feel, and their state. I wrote to Güler and congratulated him. I am very happy for him because I know what playing in the World Cup means to him, not only for what this tournament represents but also for the immense pride he feels for his country and the great importance this participation held for him. I am always happy to see my players happy and achieving their goals with their national teams as well. I hope to see all my players in the summer at the World Cup."

Regarding the possibility of continuing next season: "This doesn't worry me at all, and I have said it many times. I will be here until the day the club wants me to be here. I am very happy, and my only goal is to help the players win titles, that's what I want. To help and make my simple contribution. The important thing is for Real Madrid to win. It doesn't matter who sits on this seat, I will be happy if Real Madrid wins, and that's my only goal."

He concluded about the racist chants in the Spain vs. Egypt match: "Spain is not a racist country, if it were, we would have a problem in every stadium and every weekend. We will not change our stance. I still believe the same thing, which is that any kind of racist behavior in stadiums and in society must be eradicated, and this is something I will continue to defend and think about, regardless of the person or their location. In this matter, Spain, as a country, must continue to fight to eliminate these kinds of behaviors. We are a great and very tolerant country. What usually happens in such cases is that we tend to generalize, but we must continue to fight with the same strength to eradicate these behaviors in any stadium and in Spanish society."
