Luis de la Fuente, the head coach of the Spanish national team, commented on his team's goalless draw with the Egyptian national team in the friendly match held on Tuesday evening at the "RCDE" Stadium, during the March international break in preparation for the 2026 World Cup.

De la Fuente clarified that the first half did not reflect the team's required level, stating: "We needed to regain our usual form to be ourselves." He added that facing Egypt was challenging due to the opponent's physical strength and the difficulty in adapting after many changes in the lineup. However, he praised the performance in the second half, noting that the Egyptian national team's goalkeeper, Mostafa Shobeir, delivered an outstanding performance and thwarted many opportunities.

Regarding the ten changes made to the starting lineup, De la Fuente emphasized that the goal was to give new players a chance to integrate, noting that all players showed remarkable levels, especially the goalkeepers who possess high abilities and present a tough choice to select from.

Regarding the decline of the Spanish national team in the FIFA rankings, he said: "This reflects the difficulty of always maintaining the top position, even when things are going well. Every match is a new lesson and a motivation for development and preparation for upcoming competitions."
